"King of the Strafers" Lt. Col. Righetti flew this machine for much of his brief time in the ETO. The aircraft saw extensive use with the 55th FG, flying both bomber escort and strafing sorties. Righetti took the machine whith him when he was promoted from the 338th FS CO to commander of the 55th FG. Almost certainly used by the ace to claim all 7.5 of his aerial victories, 44-14223 was replaced by brand new P-51D-20 44-72227 in early April. Also coded CL-M and named "KTYDID," this machine was shot down by flak during an airfield attack on Riesa/Canitz Airfield near Breslau, Germany, on April 17, 1945. Having belly-landed his Mustang, Righetti radioed that he was okay and would see his fellow pilots in a few days.This was not to be. He was never seen again, and it has been speculated that he fell victim to an attack by German civilians. Righetti's final tally was 7.5 aerial and 27 strafing victories.

With seven of us in this apartment, it’s becoming less a way to view videos and pictures on the big TV, and more a constant source of bitter acrimony. This is the kind of multimedia convenience that can tear a household apart. Before lifelong friends turn into blood enemies, I thought I’d lay down some rules.
First, if you want to use the Kodak Theatre HD Player, you’ll have to reserve it on the sign-up sheet in the kitchen. Specify the date and time you’d like to use it. No, Keith, “forever plus infinity” is not a valid date and time.
If you also want to use the pointer remote, you’ll have to reserve that separately on the sign-up sheet in the back hallway. Why? Because sometimes Lindsay likes to dress the remote up in little outfits and take it for walks. I know, I know, but we’re not here to judge each other’s lifestyle preferences. Not even those of us who call a remote control “Sniggums” and give it Eskimo kisses.
Whoever got blood, mucus, and tartar sauce all over the HDMI cable should have it professionally cleaned or replace it immediately. I know where you can get an HDMI cable cheap. Talk to me later if you want to keep it discreet.
Ryan, just because you can use the Kodak Theatre HD Player to stream that Korean poop song from YouTube over and over doesn’t mean you necessarily should. Moderation in all things, dude.
OK, so, moving on… I’m not naming any names, but if you want to watch videos of an adult nature, please restrict your viewing to the hours between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., when Rachel is at work. It can create a hostile living environment. Plus, I really don’t want to know what turns you people on. I’m not trying to embarrass anybody, but some of you freaks are into some really disgusting stuff. So let’s keep it discreet, OK, Chris and Victor?
And on a similar note, if you’re using the player’s Discovery Collage feature to search for pictures on the house computer, please make sure to exclude the folders “hot_celebs” and “Euro_upskirts”, especially if my parents are in town.
Finally, if you’re using the Kodak Theatre HD Player to do something lame like getting up-to-date news headlines from the National Public Radio RSS feed, and one of the other roommates has just downloaded both the 2006 Aquaman pilot and the 1979 JLA celebrity roast, you are expected to relinquish control of the Kodak Theatre HD Player. Using an HD TV to read an RSS feed would be like using the Cosmic Cube to heat up a frozen burrito.
Well, that’s about it. As in ancient Mesopotamia, I hope the rule of law can settle our tribal disputes and bring order to a fractious land. And if not, you should all know that I’ve mastered the Cherokee blowgun. Watch something with the Kodak Theatre HD Player during my reserved time, and it’ll be the last video you ever watch. Or slideshow, or whatever.

“Telescope” and “microscope” both contain the word “scope,” derived from the Greek skopeîn, meaning “to see.” We have lots of words with “scope” in them! This is yet another of the many cases where the Hellenic legacy can be heard echoing through a whole bunch of modern English terms. For example, “periscope,” a tool for looking around. Or “colonoscopy,” a procedure wherein… uh…
Well, let’s just say it’s a different kind of “looking around,” but you wouldn’t want your physician using a periscope for it.
Microscopes are for looking at very, very small things. Some things you can see under a microscope are so small, they’re invisible otherwise! Like amoebas. Amoebas are single-celled animals that have pseudopods and stuff. They are pretty weird. But consider this: If an amoeba could look through some kind of reverse-microscope at you, it would think you were pretty weird, too! Fortunately, it can’t.
A telescope is for looking at things that are not small at all, but are so far away that they appear small. As an example of this phenomenon, have you noticed how little the Sun looks? It’s actually humongous. It’s just really, really far away. But don’t look at the Sun through a telescope! That’s a good way to sizzle your eyeballs, if there can even be said to be “a good way” to do something so horrible. Instead, look at… I dunno, the Moon. Or watch your down-the-block neighbor getting dressed. Now that’s a “heavenly body!”
Already I regret having said that.
Anyway, scopes of different kinds can reveal things about our world we might never otherwise have been able to see. Small things, faraway things, even things that are hidden inside the human butt. The trick is to use the right type of scope for the category of thing you’re trying to see. But always remember: There are some things that should be plain to observe even without special sight-enhancing technology! Like the hideousness of your outfit, for instance.
